Technical Apprentice
We are looking to recruit an apprentice production technician to work with our professional team, starting Summer 2026. We would like to receive applications from A level students (17-20 yrs).
They do not need to have studied drama or theatre studies (although this would not exclude them), but will need to have an aptitude for hands on work and have good people skills.
They may have a flair for woodwork, art, graphic design, or have shown a particular interest in backstage work for school productions or with an amateur group.
It does not need to be someone who is academic or already involved in theatre, but someone who is keen and willing to learn.
This is NOT a gap year opportunity.
The role will be fully immersive and cover a range of areas working with the lighting, sound, staging, carpentry, rigging, and show crew staff at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, working on all the productions, both touring and start up shows, in the main auditorium and the studio theatres.
Please see below for a more detailed job description and a questionnaire for any students who are suitable and interested.
The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre encourages people from any background to apply for any of its current vacancies.
We are committed to creating a team which is representative of our society and to bringing together those with a variety of skills and experiences, to help shape what we do and how we work.
We are particularly keen to hear from black, Asian and minority ethnic and disabled candidates. All disabled candidates who demonstrate that they meet the essential criteria for any of our positions will be invited for an interview.
If you require an application pack in an alternative format or require any further information about any post advertised here, please contact: eswayne@yvonne-arnaud.co.uk.
Whilst it is normally our policy to notify applicants as to the outcome of their application as soon as possible after the closing date, it is not always possible to do so. If you have not heard from us within four weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application has not been successful.
